*kisses to my sweet Abi and apologies for not being online tonight*

Mage rocked. Got in a good four to five hours of rock-solid gaming with few interruptions and great character-building events, complete with radioactive iguanas and human brain transplants into Komodo dragons. Blythe got a Paradox flaw which made her look exactly like a super-powerful Japanese Marauder girl named Burnzone, which has its good sides and it's not-so-good sides.

Fun was had. :)

Am now going to go die in bed.

Mage the Ascension?

Oh boy, if that's the game, I've got a great proto-Euthanatos character to tell you about... *evil grins*

His name is Marcus McLain. Father Marcus McLain, if you please.

He's a Catholic priest, from Belfast. He's having a severe crisis of faith. You see, he sees the future.

Not just the one that will happen, mind you. All possible futures. He's unable to discern which one is the actual future and which ones are just possible.

So he's been asked to go on administrative leave by his bishop. He's convinced that God is speaking to him and telling him to warn people -- that he's a prophet. But whenever he warns someone about the worst-case scenario, it never happens -- and whenever he doesn't, it always happens. His congregants are convinced he's schizophrenic, or worse.

Meantime, he's suffering. He recently had a chance meeting with a Euthanatos named Laurence, who's been watching his progress (or lack thereof), in a bar.

Their conversation went like this.

Laurence bought Marcus a drink and said, "You look like you've got a lot on your plate. Want to talk about it?"

Marcus: You know that old saw about how a prophet is reviled in his own country? Well, a prophet is also reviled in his own church.

Laurence: Oh?

Marcus: I wonder how the prophets of the Old Testament must have felt -- they saw what was going on and told people what was going to happen, but nobody believed them, nobody listened to them.

Laurence: I wonder how God must feel, then.

Marcus: Friend, if I knew that, I'd have all the answers.

Laurence: You're not the only one. You're not alone.

Marcus, terrified: You can... do this too?

Laurence: Not... exactly, but I've seen things that would make most men go mad.

Marcus: I'm already well on my way.

Laurence: It needn't be that way.

Laurence then invited Marcus to a meeting of the Euthanatos, which scared the good Father beyond belief, because he's convinced that other people doing this are in league with the Devil, but he's desperate -- he'll come.

That last bit was roleplayed out with my Storyteller, [livejournal.com profile] worldmage, and we've decided that Marcus will come to his Awakening during the game. He's convinced that his powers come from God... it'll probably be a rude Awakening for him.

I'm thinking of bringing a Bible to the first game. *cackles*
