Got out of work early and went to Chapters, where I once again managed to miss [livejournal.com profile] curtana. I really need to find out that woman's schedule. ^_- I did buy all three books in the George R. R. Martin series because they're great and it's all [livejournal.com profile] curtana's fault.

I also ordered another book which ought to be coming in by the end of the week. Thus ends my spending for a while, probably until next month at the very least.

The answers to the Ask Me Anything Poll

What would you look for in a girlfriend? Any pros?

Ooh... *eyes glow* Let's see:

Physical attributes:

B00bage is always a plus, and I'm rather fond of shapely women. Someone who's comfortable and smells nice and has a pretty smile and sparkly eyes.

Nice hands are really important to me: I watch hands a lot, and I find that they tell me a lot about the person they belong to.

Mental/Psychological Attributes

Stable mental health is a plus. This isn't to say that I won't date anyone with mental health problems, but I can't live my life in permanent crisis. They have to at least be self-aware and trying to keep their life in balance (same as me, in that sense).

A well-developed sense of humour is a must. Dated someone who turned out to have a very stunted sense of humour, and it was a struggle (yes, you most of you know who I'm talking about, and no, I'm not going into that again).

Passion: for anything at all, really, as long as the passion is there (okay, obviously not if she's pro-shooting everyone who's not a WASP or wants to shoot all doctors who perform abortions or what have you).

An adventure-seeker would be nice, but I'd like it if she knew how to sit at home for a weekend and just cuddle. Someone who knows how to balance the two would be perfect. :)

Would you recommend living in Canada over the US?

Well, I've never lived in the U.S., but I know of many good things about living in Canada: there's a universal health care system (which still works, despite the problems), there's less violence, and people are usually more tolerant. At least, in Montreal.

The cost of living is much lower, and you get the advantage of American TV channels with Canadian cable prices. ;) Real estate is cheaper, higher education is much more accessible (tuition fees are much, much lower), and the educational system has fewer inequalities between schools (not that they don't exist, of course).

This is what popped into my mind off-hand. Hope it helped!

Who's your favorite poet?

Tough question. The first one who springs into my head is Coleridge, but I adore Yeats and Elliot and Wallace Stevens.

where's Shachatte?

I wish I knew. :(

Why doesn't my husband think I'm funny?

I can't answer that question as I think you're one of the funniest people I've ever met. If I didn't know better, I'd suspect your husband of having some kind of deficiency. ^_-

What animal do you feel the most kinship with? Why?

Dogs. Dogs are the eternal optimists, and love unquestioningly, unconditionally. They are grateful for any attention they receive, whether it is to be fed, petted or kicked.

No matter what happens to it, a dog will pick itself up, shake itself, and go back for more. A dog will die for its pack, will lay down its life for its master, and ask for nothing in return save acceptance and love.

What motivates you? How are you living rather than existing?

Hope.

I've said several times that underneath the depression and Angst and whatnot that I'm an optimist at heart. Hope springs eternal within me, which is what keeps me going: the belief that no matter how bad things are, that they can and will get better.

I can hope for anything and everything in life. The belief that things can get better, that I can be better than ever before, is a more powerful motivator than even I ever imagined it could be.

If time travel was possible, where would you go?

Shouldn't that be, when would I go? ;)

Umm... if it were my goal to change the past, I'd go back to my own adolescence and give myself a thorough talking-to.

If it's for historical curiosity/observation, then I think I'd go back in time to talk with Socrates or Descartes. Those two men are mostly responsible for the way we think today, and I'd give my eyeteeth to pick their brains. :)

You're right. When would you go. *thinks about it*
