Right, then...
Mar. 12th, 2003 03:57 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After much wibbling, I've decided to make this *completely* public and official, and I'm going to do it in my LiveJournal for the sake of expediency and not for any other reason.
I will be happy to discuss it with anyone in person (or via some form of internet communication if you don't live in Montreal).
I'm gay.
Oh, but don't worry, it's curable. [/sarcasm] That article made me so mad I could spit.
Anyhoo, for questions, comments, issues, etc., you know where to find me. :)
No filters on this post, so everyone knows.

Date: 2003-03-12 02:03 pm (UTC)Actually, the doctor goes on to say (yes, I read the whole article in a burst of Schadenfreude) that he's worked with homosexual adults (males) "dissatisfied with their homosexuality" and has had good results after intensive therapy. *massive amounts of eyerolling here*
Every time you think society has made progress, some asshole like this comes along and destroys everyone's hard work. :P

Date: 2003-03-12 07:02 pm (UTC)...and does this mean I can ogle chicks with impunity in your presence now ;)?
*ducks*

Hey! We can ogle chicks together now!
Re: What slipjig said...
Date: 2003-03-12 08:42 pm (UTC)Saying that a girl is a hottie/drop-dead gorgeous/absolutely beautiful is acceptable, but going on and on about how "stacked" she is or making inappropriate and/or crude sexual remarks is right out.
I know you were joking, but occasionally a reminder of boundaries is good. :)
And to answer your second question: yes, but you have to clear it with Suzanne first. When I hear it from the horse's mouth that it's okay for you to ogle, then I'll ogle with you to your heart's content. :)

Date: 2003-03-13 02:52 am (UTC)As for your link...what bullshit. There was a boy that was horribly genitally mutilitated during an operation or circumsision and the doctors thought it best he should be brought up as a she. So they did and gave him hormoes and everything, treating him as a woman. Basically it screwed with his head, he/she thought she was gay but in reality was just hetrosexual because she was really a man. Genetics vs Treatment/society.... Genetics won.

Date: 2003-03-13 05:31 am (UTC)Also, it felt like "coming out" in the traditional way, i.e. one on one and making a big announcement, was making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. I mean, no one would make a fuss if I were hetero, so why make a fuss if I'm homosexual? I'm just looking forward to the day when no one has to "come out" but can be gay from the moment they realise they are and that's that.
Did that make any sense at all? Geh. Am sick and have had no caffeine. Bad combo.
Anyway, I don't think it came as a huge surprise to a lot of people. In fact, I'm pretty sure many of my friends said to themselves "It's about bloody time!" but there you go. ;)
I heard the story of that boy. Talk about screwing up someone's life just because you made a mistake during an operation! Doctors above all should know not to play God. X(
