A Brief Pondering On The Passage Of Time

Well, not really. Sorry to disappoint you.
It just seems odd to me that the first part of my shift went by really quickly today, and now the last bit is dragging by more slowly than a slug that's overdosed on Valium. Usually it's the other way around.
Actually, my entire shift usually seems to drag on interminably. I guess I should count myself blessed that part of it went quickly today. I hope the people at that translating place left me a happy message asking me over for an interview while I was gone today. That would be nice.
In other news, I have two hours until I can go home, and fifteen minutes until my next break. Also, the one good thing about my shift is that from 9:00 to 9:15 I get NO calls, because the phone lines are closed. The only drawback to this is that if 60 people call at 8:58, then I'm the only one left to deal with them, and I have to stay as long as they're online. It means overtime, yes, but it also means staying late into the night. So far, it hasn't happened. *knocks on wood*
24 people in the queue, and 123 people manning the lines, meaning a total of about 147 clients phoning at the same time. 146, since my phone lists me as "not ready" right now.
...
Every now and then, I get a wild murderous urge to kill, maim and destroy the agents who work for us at Bell Worlds. Honestly, the amount of work they generate for us to spare themselves ten minutes of work is mind boggling. Not to mention that their work isn't timed, whereas ours is. I expect that it evens out since they work on commission, though.
It all turned out well in the end. And now I get to go on break. Yay!
