[livejournal.com profile] fearsclave accused me of using the "M" word on Saturday, when it is clearly forbidden. ;)

Yesterday was spent very quietly vegging, as poor [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave came down with some sort of horrific bug. One of the symptoms appears to be profuse and constant apologizing for being sick. :P

We had a gargantuan breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] wultabat and [livejournal.com profile] looking4wings, and [livejournal.com profile] wultabat and I bonded over Left4Dead and really bad jokes. Hey, [livejournal.com profile] sultrysong: I used two of Th'Boy's jokes, and they were a big hit! :D

I am SO sad that there is no L4D that is made for Macs. Does anyone know of a way around this? Some sort of emulator dealie?

I played a solo version of Left4Dead while [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave took a nap, and made it all the way to the end before getting stomped by a monster. Boo. Then I watched something called The Last Templar with Carolyn, who threatened several times to turn it off if [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave and I didn't stop snarking at it.

Faced with a choice of movies on TV that was either Van Helsing or Click, we opted instead to shove in the DVD of Mamma Mia! and had a blast until it was time for me to leave. [livejournal.com profile] wultabat was kind enough to drive me to the train station, since poor [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave was in no shape to do so himself.

The train really is a very civilized way to travel. The seat next to me was empty both ways, and unlike airplane seats, they aren't very narrow or crowded. The train trip itself is about an hour and ten minutes, and door-to-door the whole trip is about two hours. Considering that about 45 minutes of that for me is spent in public transit (metro and bus), that's really pretty good.

All right. I am off to run errands and go to the gym.

Dear flist,

I am on a salad kick. It's part of my new healthy-eating thing. My problem, such as it is, is thus: I am not an experienced salad person. My salads are therefore pretty standard: lettuce, raddichio, cucumber, tomatoes, and peppers. Occasionally avocado. Today I went wild and added red cabbage. Sometimes I remember to put in spinach, but I usually forget.

So I want to broaden my horizons. What delicious salads do you make? I am open to suggestions, although I reserve the right to ignore ingredients I don't like (endives, for instance: blick).

Ideally, the salads would be non-creamy in nature (in terms of the dressing), and not too heavy on the protein (nuts, chicken, whatever), but I am not averse to having that sort of salad listed as well, for the occasional change of pace.

Ideas?
