Insomnia demons for hire
Apr. 21st, 2003 01:52 amNo, really: if you want 'em, you can have 'em. *sigh* Two a.m. and I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm not working tomorrow.
I should probably take a stupid little white pill to make me sleep, but I really don't want to go back on those things. Uness I get nine or ten hours of sleep with them they make me groggy and make it hard to get up in the morning.
I had a bunch of vivid and odd dreams last night, some of which were pleasant and others way not. Of the two I remember, the first one involved me reading
kimberly_a's paper journal which she had given to me to read. I remember that I was honoured and fascinated by what I found within: it was not bound on the side, but was bound at the top (like a long, thin notepad), and she'd written in it in dusky pink ink (she had lovely girly round and loopy handwriting, too, which kind of wobbled endearingly on the page). I don't remember what it said, unfortunately (and if I did, do you think I would reveal someone else's intimate secrets without asking first? Sheesh! ^_-).
( Second dream, and it involves Poms, so if you don't want to hear about it read no further )
Spent the day with the Parental Units, and got a lot of knitting done (nearly three squares), saw the "Invitation Au Voyage" exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, which was a misnomer as well as a massive disappointment, much like the Richelieu exhibit back in October. Too short, not enough research, (too many people), too much marketing. In short, a short-sighted curator who appears to have to all extents and purposes slammed together an exhibit that should have been fantastic.
Honestly, this is the first time all those paintings have left Russia, you'd think they'd put more effort into it.
Maternal Unit made her wonderful rack of lamb with rosemary, as well as a delicious entrée of asparagus and lightly braised pine nuts topped with homemade mayonnaise. Chocolate cake for dessert, thanks to my father who got it at the Duc de Lorraine pastry shop where my family has shopped for the past 30-odd years. They make the best croissants in all of Montreal, I kid you not.
Watched Enterprise, and then Masterpiece Theatre which was showing the third part of The Jury, which was extremely good. I think I may try to wheedle my way into watching the fourth part next Sunday with the Parental Units.
Other things of note today: spoke with my old friend AC who's in town for Easter Weekend, and we're having lunch together downtown tomorrow at 1pm. We haven't decided where we're going, so we're meeting at Chapters first and going from there. He's the friend I've mentioned a few times already who moved to Toronto to be a student-at-law with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (I don't recall whether he's passed his bar exam yet, but I'm fairly sure he has).
Looking forward to that. :)
Also got myself long-desired copy of Dante Alighieri's Inferno, Purgatorio and Inferno. Will be perusing during week. Have finished "A Clash of Kings" and if I don't get to sleep soon will continue reading Fantasy's Answer to Crack Cocaine later on tonight.
Oh, and
kimberly_a? Come here and post all the bitchy comments you want, or don't comment at all, vent in your LiveJournal as you see fit. I will love you no matter what, and anyone who doesn't want to deal with you wasn't worth your time in the first place. :)
*squoosh*
I need someone to keep me warm at night, dammit.
