Hey, flist!

Can anyone help me with this? I got an external hard drive in January, and it started malfunctioning in February. Then I got sidetracked for a while, and yesterday when I plugged it in... nothing happened.

The thing itself is working. The blue light goes on when I plug it in (although it doesn't flash the way it did when it was "connecting" before), and I can hear it whirring away in there.

So at this point I'm willing to call the HD itself a loss and replace it, but I would ideally like to recover the nearly 50GB of stuff I have on there, which took a lot of time and trouble to accumulate.

Is this feasible? How would I do that when I can't get it to connect to my computer?

Halp!

Oh, too bad you hadn't mentioned that before. I had a client recently have a LaCie die on him. Turned out the hard disk inside was perfectly good, and I was able to read his files. In fact, for $50 he bought a new external case, I put the old drive in it, and he was back in business.

Had you brought it with you today, I could have had a look at it for you.
