Apparently I have the hearing of a teenager. In this case, it's not a blessing. :P

I've been seeing this all over my f-list for the past day or so and have yet to find anyone who couldn't hear it (including me). I suspect this is a joke designed to annoy us all.

Could be, although I have a few friends ([livejournal.com profile] bodhifox springs to mind) who couldn't hear it. Mind you, their hearing may just be especially crappy. ;)

Stupid internet. ;)

I don't actually hear anything, though I do "hear" a sharp ringing at the very start that "sounds" like I've just walked out of a concert, but it goes away after less than a second. If I didn't know I was listening to it, I might not even notice it.

**I** could hear it; and as we all know, I'm older than dirt. Therefore, it is obviously a joke. :-P

No, I can't hear a thing here, and I'm older than God, so I think you guys just have young ears.

I can hear it.... but I have good ears so I'm not surprised. I terms of it being a joke, I had to have my ears tested medically before I went sailing a few years ago as part of a physical, and this is just the sort of thing they do: make you wear a headset and then make you identify high pitched whines at various volumes and try to say which side it is on... blargh.

I doubt it is a joke, but probably they are using a very narrow definition of age to frequency correlations -_-

I can hear it, and also recognize it from a few stores that use it as a deterrent. Of course, I'm bloody nearly 30, and a doctor (though not a physician), so I'm guessing that problems with loitering teens must be pretty severe if they're fighting it with devices that also drive away my business.

This is dumb. I couldn't hear it the first time. I turned up my speakers a little and I could hear it clear as a bell. If it truly can only be heard by certain age groups, then it should be the frequency that makes the difference, not the volume.

Yeah, well, it's an internet meme. Asking it to be scientific is maybe a little too optimistic. ;)
