That's annoying.

I wanted to take out some of my lovely organic meat from my freezer in the shed this morning, so that it might thaw in time for me to make some shepherd's pie (or cottage pie, as owldaughter pointed out).

Unfortunately, the padlock on my shed appears to have been affected by the cold weather, and won't unlock. It's not even that cold out!

Now I shall have to get bolt cutters, and see if I can find a padlock that won't freeze. Also, I have no cottage pie.

I don't even know if ice is the problem. The key turns, but the mechanism won't... umm... I've lost the English word. Crap. It's as though the bolts aren't revolving properly, or something. However locking mechanisms work. It's not jammed, it just won't release. It's weird.

I will nonetheless try your suggestions. Can't hurt, after all, and maybe I'm totally wrong and it'll work. I still have to go out and buy stuff. Boo. :P

Or a lighter. And definitely the WD 40. You're so good with English I keep forgetting it's not your Mother. There's tumblers inside. If you lube it at the hoop shaft, it should reach inside and free itself.
