Okay. Second batch of banana bread and apple muffins are in the oven. The first batch of banana bread turned out... wonky-looking. I hope it'll be comestible. It'll be dense, anyway. I think the eggs may have been too cold (not room-temperature) when I beat them, and thus the bread is not as light as I would like (given that banana bread is seriously dense as a rule).

I appear to have time to try for apple pie. I haven't made apple pie in about fifteen years, so it'll be an experiment.

I also have to shower, pack, and arrange all the food in such a way as to be able to transport it without making a gigantic mess.

Pies and Travel

You may need to phone the airport first. After 9/11/2001, our airport authorities went batshit about people packing pumpkin pies.

I'm driving. It's only about an hour and a half away. :)

If I were taking the plane, no way would I be taking two dishes of lasagna, 24 muffins, 2 banana breads and an apple pie with me. O_O

Why pumpkin pie? I seem to have missed that particular detail...

Well, all pies and baked goods, I guess, but the big issue was, 9/11/2001 shortly followed by Thanksgiving 11/2001, and people had pies, and the security agents went berserk and wanted to "search" their pies.

The news was full of weeping grandmas whose pies had been destroyed right in front of them for no reason. (Why not just xray the pie if you're that paranoid?)

I hope Obama restores some sanity to our air travel security. A lot of the stuff confiscated is just being stolen, IMHO, like jewelry "with dangerous pins!" and yes, a Medal of Honor they attempted to confiscate for the same reason. Ptui! And these are not real employees, these are contract workers hired so that their owners, companies like Halliburton, can skim and then kick back the skim to politicians by way of "campaign contributions," i.e., bribes.

A friend has just made me a fabulous Hamster Mountie icon... I'll get it loaded later today! :)
