mousmeI just realized that I don't have enough time to cook everything I want to cook today *and* make it to Hurley's. So I'm going to pick two things to cook today, and cook two more things tomorrow morning. Then if I have time tomorrow afternoon I will cook a fifth dish.
In slightly related news, I made myself two grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch (open-faced with Cracker Barrel Cheddar cheese, just the way I had them when I was a kid) in a fit of nostalgia, and am feeling very smug about the whole thing. I hadn't had a grilled cheese in a very long time, especially not a home-made one.
In other good news, the place is clean. The floors are shiny, the counter tops and bathroom are sparkly, and I am a happy camper. I unpacked about half of my books, and put away a bunch of stuff in the shed where it will no longer be underfoot. The living room is looking much better already, especially with the new lamp in there to give it some additional lighting. Once all the books are unpacked and put away, as well as the CDs, then I think it'll really come together. I think I may need another CD thing, though. I'll see when I get them all unpacked and sorted.
Have I mentioned lately that I love having a dishwasher? I've only used it three times so far (I don't produce many dishes on my own, and I've been away from home for a while), but it has totally reduced my workload (wrt dishes, anyway) by about two-thirds.
It's odd: I'm still living in the same building in which I've been living for nearly four years now, but for the first time this place is really beginning to feel like home, like I really belong here and am not just in transit. I can't say I'm displeased. :)
Oh, and I got all my laundry done! The last load is drying now, and in about ten minutes I'm going to go get it and put it all away while stuff cooks on the stove. I am still being ridiculously productive, which is awesome!
The best part is that in spite of everything that I'm getting done, I still feel like I'm getting some rest and doing stuff I enjoy. There's nothing like getting away from work for a few days to make everything slide back into perspective.
