Balanced, Secure, and Realistic.

Impressionism is a movement in French painting, sometimes called optical realism because of its almost scientific interest in the actual visual experience and effect of light and movement on appearance of objects. Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature.

People that like Impressionist paintings may not always be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aesthetically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impressionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their live they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are.

I am vaguely irked that I had to correct the spelling in this meme. Bah.

So today I have washed the bathroom, done a major load of groceries (though they're not unpacked yet) and bought a chest freezer. I looked seriously at the upright models, but they were way outside of my budget. Freezer is getting delivered next Thursday, at my request. They're getting in a new shipment today, and I was told that I could have it as soon as tomorrow, but they couldn't give me an exact time, and I have stuff to do tomorrow outside the home that means I might not be home to take delivery. So.

I bought a ton of groceries, mostly non-perishable, in an effort to re-stock my seriously depleted pantry. I had almost run out of every single kind of canned tomato there is, as well as all the beans I use to make chili, and I was perilously close to not having any pasta except elbow macaroni and linguine. Damn. I just realized that I forgot two things. This is what happens when I don't make a list. Buggery and damnation. I shall have to head out again this afternoon.

Anyway, I re-stocked my soup supplies a bit, and am still on the lookout for Scotch Broth, which for some reason I can't seem to find anywhere. I am feeling marginally better about the whole food situation now. My pantry was feeling terribly empty, and as a result I was worried that I might end up buying pre-made stuff, which is something I'd like to avoid as much as possible. At least now I'll be able to make my own stuff in advance and freeze it. I bought some extra Tupperware too, just in case. Huh. Spell-check insists that I capitalize "Tupperware" even though I was trying to go for the generic name. Anyway, tomorrow there will be soup, soup, chili, and macaroni and cheese, and something involving beets, because I just picked up a HUGE bag of beets for a song. I keep forgetting that I like beets, so it was nice to be reminded of the fact by a sale.

Anyone know of any good recipes for beets that I can make in bulk?

Now I have to bring back the car, unpack the groceries, and toss in a couple of loads of laundry. The laundry may have to wait until the floor people have been and gone.

This afternoon, IKEA. I may pick up a floor lamp while I'm at it, which will officially make today Very Expensive.

This whole moving into a new home and trying to live like a responsible grown-up costs more money than I originally thought it would. Yeesh.

Borsch, of course (my spelling might be off, but...) I'll try to find the recipe that my penpal sent me and forward it to you. Tasty tasty stuff, and also quite good for you (and great for freezing, and also portable lunches!)

Or salad with spinach leaves and beets and avocado and bits of fruit (pears work well here, and they're in season). With just a wee bit of vinaigrette made from white wine vinegar. Yum!

I was also going to say bosrsh! Although, you can also pickle beets...

Nyom, beets.

Borsht, or borshch ("borshch" being the exact transliteration from Russian).

AhHA! Thanks!

I grew up on the stuff (Polish nanny who had a Russian husband...) and this weather is just ASKING for pots and pots of hot soup, IMO.

And hibernation. I'm all for hiding in bed until the weather gets better. This will presumably happen around the end of May, though, so my boss may have some opinions about this.

I am way impressed by your super crazy productiveness! I keep wanting to take a nap every time I read all the activities you are cramming into one day. Go you. If you could just bottle some of the productivity up for me though, I would appreciate it.

Hee!

Would that I could bottle it all up. I love it when I have the time and energy to do this kind of thing. It makes me feel really good. I'd save some for the days when I have no productivity left in me. :)

Traditional, Vibrant, and Tasteful

Islamic art is developed from many sources: Roman, Early Christian, and Byzantine styles were taken over in early Islamic architecture; the architecture and decorative art of pre-Islamic Persia was of paramount significance; Central Asian styles were brought in with various nomadic incursions; and Chinese influences . Islamic art uses many geometical floral or vegetable designs in a repetitive pattern known as arabesque. It is used to symbolize the transcendent, indivisible and infinite nature of Allah.

People that like Islamic art tend to be more traditional people that appreciate keeping patterns that they learned and experienced from their past. It is not to say that they are not innovative personalities, they just do not like to let go of their roots. They like to put new ideas into details and make certain that they will work before sharing them with others. Failure is not something they like to think about because they are more interested in being successful and appreciated for their intelligence. These people can also be or like elaborate things in their life as long as they are tasteful. They tend to prefer geometric patterns and vibrant colors.
