Bell did pretty much the exact same thing to me - I moved, switch to Videotron, and kept my cell phone with them but cancelled my residential phone and Internet service. Returned the modem and everything. Then I blindly assumed that the invoice they were sending me every month was for the cell phone, the same one I see when I look on-line. Turns out, no, it was - wait, you know what? This is really complicated, because it involves several Bell departments miscommunicating with each other while my credit card expired and started rejecting their preauthorized debits.

Suffice it to say: I couldn't prove I'd returned the modem and asked to be disconnected, cause there was no way I'd ever be able to find the receipt, so we compromised on my paying them for 2 months worth of service instead of 6. Then I gave them my updated credit card number and authorized them to bill it, which they never bothered to do. This happened 3 times before the account went to collections, and the collections people were very competent and helpful and straightened it out right away.

Then I found the receipt that proved I'd returned the modem while I was doing my taxes. Which is good, because until then I always had a nagging suspicion that I'd forgotten to cancel when I moved.
