Hon - no issue! You're making a gift for your mom, right? She's financially independant from you, right? It gives people joy to give gifts to those whom they love, so in a very real way, you did your father a favour by allowing him to feel that joy. Besides - this way he gets to feel like he's taking care of his baby girl in a way that's got to be a lot less annoying than invading your apartment and criticizing your choices. :)
