Update from Sick!Phnee

This isn't my year for staying in good health, it would seem. I have yet another cold, which is happily settling down in my throat and making my nose run while at the same time preventing me from breathing. Fun. I am busily trying to medicate it into oblivion. Here's hoping that works.
In the world of paradoxes, contradictions and other complementary stuff, my company has once again surpassed itself.
At 10:30 I was called into my supervisor's office, where I had to sign one of those lovely little papers that state "shape up or ship out" in more polite and yet more threatening terms. In other words, I have until April 18th to bring up my sales or else I get canned. Fair enough, my sales haven't been too great (I'm supposed to make $4.50 an hour and I'm currently at about $3.25 and change).
Then, at 11:00, my supervisor comes to see me at my work station and hands me another paper to sign, this time offering me permanent full-time status as an employee of Bell Mobiltiy, starting April 15th.
I had to try very hard not to laugh in his face. I did accept the full-time status, though, even if I have the vague feeling I'm going to regret this somewhere down the line (it means I can't take reduced hours even if I want to, which is a drag).
Had dinner with the Parental Units, vegged in front of their television, and basically let them fuss over me, as I felt in need of fussing over. Yes, I'm a baby hanging onto my mother's apron strings: sue me. Had a nice discussion about literature with the Paternal Unit, decried the continued stereotyping of women in modern pop music, and basically had a good time. Maternal Unit made yummy pasta and shrimp with garlic and olive oil.
Went home, caught up on LJ, must remember to do Reparo stuff with Mandy (damn that girl is fun!). There seems not to be a huge rush so far *knocks on wood* so I hope the rest of the day goes well too. I even got a sale! Go me! *rolls eyes*
I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find that I didn't have to tunnel my way out of my aparment, as the majority of the snowfall hadn't occurred yet. In fact, I think it's snowing rather more heavily now, but I don't care since I've already made it to work on time.
:::later:::
Bleh. Spoke too fast. Mini-rush of clients, and at this rate my day is never going to end. Yurgh.
Tomorrow I'm seeing my godmother for knitting lessons (hopefully I'll learn something new too), and my parents have decided to come by my apartment to make sure I'm running my life properly (i.e. according to their standards). They've requested my presence at dinner tonight, after which I'm going to go home and work on my joint post for StarGate with
shenlo, who's turning out to be a blast to roleplay with online as well as IRL.
Bleargh. I can't believe I'm stuck here until 6pm. There's a rush on now, and in eight minutes when my break is over I'm going to have a lovely hour and fifteen minutes or so of dealing with cranky clients.
Latest client anecdote: my last caller wanted to know if it was "normal" that his screen was completely blank. Subsequent questioning revealed that the battery was dead and the phone shut off. Yes, yes it's normal, sir. *rolls eyes*
On the plus side, they still have good hot chocolate here (for industrial-grade stuff, it's pretty good, anyway).
