Getting things together
Oct. 22nd, 2012 12:29 pmSo the upstairs of my house is actually tidy. I even vacuumed! This shouldn't be the accomplishment it feels like, but oh well. :P It's nice to have a clean house. I'm always happier when my environment is in order, but it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation: hard to tell if being in a good state of mind motivates me to clean, or if having a clean environment helps with my state of mind. A bit of both, most likely.
Work is being work-like, but I've been less stressed and cynical about the whole process there for a couple of months now, which is nice. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the things I enjoy about the job, rather than the fact that not only do I not have a permanent position, I'm less than four weeks away from my contract needing to be renewed without any word from my boss. Yup. Not worried at all. :P
Overall, things are slowly coming together. Personal life is going great (more on that when I have the official green light from the person in question—I don't think it's a secret or anything, but I'm treading lightly), and I've been cooking and getting out and generally being a reasonably functional member of society.
Going out and walking has been on my list of things I'm trying to do more. Lord knows both the dog and I could use some more exercise.
fearsclave hooked me up with Zombies, Run!, which is a running program combined with live action zombie roleplay. It's been a lot of fun, and I look forward to each new mission/episode the way I've never looked forward to going outside and getting exercise before! The dog is enjoying the additional walking and running as well, so I'm counting it a win.
The past couple of weeks have been filled with activities. Apple picking, cooking days, all sorts of good things. Managed to take some photos, too. This is my favourite one:

And, proof positive that my dog is the best dog in the world:

He and Bean got along like a house on fire. Sergent let Bean chase him around and around the dining room table, grinning a happy doggy grin the whole time. He even slowed down a few times so Bean could catch up, and then let Bean climb all over him and subject him to any number of indignities, and grinned and wagged his tail all along. Happiest dog in the world. I knew he was good with kids, but the evidence was conclusive this time around.
Good times all around.
