In which Phnee is a squeeing fangirl
Mar. 14th, 2009 01:17 amSo I went to
grimmwire's birthday party tonight (well, technically yesterday). Had a great time. Chatted about graphic novels and movies and had a super interesting conversation about the differences in how people grok language. The language conversation was with a bunch of people whom I had just met, including a lovely lady with an English-sounding accent (I think it may have been Welsh, but there was a lot of background noise), and we had a very good time throwing ideas around.
The time came for me to leave (I have an early-ish day tomorrow), and I realized that I hadn't been introduced to most of the people, and vice versa.
"I'm Jo," said the nice lady.
Someone made a joke about Jo needing no last name, like Cher, and there was general merriment, but of course I then had to ask what it was.
"It's Jo Walton."
I confess, I squeaked. "Oh my goodness! HI!" and then I shook her hand all over again and giggled like an idiot.
She was very very nice and gave me a hug. :D
kino_kid had tried to warn me, apparently, knowing that I am, in her words, "excitable," but alas the opportunity didn't arise in time.
It was nice, if somewhat embarrassing. Apparently I have never stopped being twelve years old. ;)
