More summit stuff
Oct. 17th, 2008 08:48 pmThere has been a great deal of bitching and discontent during this Summit, which is unfortunate. I think it's mostly due to the fact that the OCC is being neglected quite a bit in terms of work. People are bored and thus it's easy to dwell on the things that are annoying us, and on perceived injustices.
I am quite disappointed in people's attitudes, both employees and supervisors.
There are some things happening, but mostly I'm not allowed to talk about those, as they're operational and thus not to be made public. I did get to run outside to watch the French and Canadian motorcades go by, and that was kind of a nice change of pace. It was quickly over, though, and then it was back to business as usual.
On the plus side, I have met a bunch of really nice people here, and hopefully I'll be able to keep in touch with them once this is all over. We're having a blast together, getting to know each other, telling dirty jokes (we're all going to hell and I'm driving the yellow bus) and going out for dinner. Tonight we ate at the hotel, and I brought my microwavable stuff while the others ordered pizza. I decided on Monday that I couldn't eat restaurant food every day this week, because it's all pretty unhealthy fast-food stuff that's available here, and I'll just make myself ill. So I bought a few instant-meal type things which aren't great, but are better than fast-food every day. Anyway, we sat around and chatted for a while, and then everyone retired nicely to their rooms.
My bed calls to me with siren song. Good night, all!
