Well, I got up at 7 this morning. So far so good. There will be an update in my Micromanagement Filter in a moment. For those of you who have missed the boat on that, it's not too late to opt in. ;)
Gretzky was allowed to spend the night with me, as she was looking forlorn last night. She sat and purred all night (at least, she was purring when I fell asleep and when I awoke).
I got up to a strange whirring/clicking noise in the living room. Kind of like when you leave a CD on pause in an older CD player. Click-whir-click-whir-click. I investigated, but couldn't find what was causing it. It wasn't a CD (my CD player is something like twelve or thirteen years old), and it wasn't the computer itself. It wasn't the modem, either.
So I stood and scratched my head for a while, then turned off the power bar. Sure enough, the noise stopped. Crap, think I, how can a power bar make that sort of noise? I investigated further, by turning it on and unplugging things one by one.
Conclusion? The power cable to my laptop is fried. *sigh*
For the record, this is NOT an April Fool's joke. I really would have come up with something more imaginative. :P
Anyway, looks like tomorrow is being reorganized around going out and buying a power cord, since I think the Mac places in Montreal are closed over the weekend. I'm going to try to find one that's open today, but even so my timing is going to be very tight, what with one commitment and another.
This means that there will be very little writing done on the computer until at least tomorrow evening, because my battery isn't going to last all that long. I probably won't even log on tonight.
Argh.
I would really, really like there to be one year in which I don't have repeated computer woes. Really.
