Yay for cleanliness!
May. 5th, 2005 09:08 pmOkay, the apartment isn't entirely clean, but I mopped the floor in the dining room with a vengeance, and I can proudly say that the apartment no longer smells like a litter box. I caved and brought in a third litter box. I was trying to keep only two, in an effort to save space, but I decided that the aroma in the apartment deserved an extra litter box.
I also moved the table I had in the living room into the dining room. I'll be using it as a work table and keeping the kitchen table where it is. That was I free up space in the living room, and give myself some extra working surfaces. The table just wasn't being used except as a repository for paper and whatever I happened to be holding that I wanted to put down. At least now I'll have less of an excuse to develop clutter in visible places.
My radio has taken residence up on the "new" table, and the grey cabinet-thing (originally a TV stand) will go into storage for the time being, thus freeing up even more space.
:::pause:::
Ooh! I managed to fit it under the table! Yay for maximizing of space! My modem, however, is not happy with all these changes. Of course, the power cord has been chewed by certain felines who will remain nameless to protect the guilty, so that doesn't help. *grumble*
Now I don't really have an excuse not to clean the front room. The whole I-don't-have-room-to-manoever bit just doesn't fly anymore. On the other hand, this is a good impetus to get it clean. I'm always happier when my apartment is clean and tidy, and I'll finally be able to hang my pictures and really start considering this home.
ai731 has already got the wooden frames for the raised flower beds nailed together in the back garden, and I'm very excited to see how it'll turn out. I'm thinking of getting myself some, umm... I've lost the word in English. Des bacs en bois in which to put flowers that I'll be able to hang on both my balconies. Flower boxes, or something like that.
I should clean the bathroom. Funny, it was the bit I liked best in my other place, but here not so much. I think it's because my other apartment was such a bitch to clean that the bathroom was the only place where I ever felt that I made any progress. At least in there I could see the fruits of my labours.
I need a clean laundry basket, is what I need. Not an absolute must, mind you, but it would help. Have I mentioned that I love my washing machine and drier? It makes my towels fluffy! You have no idea how exciting this is after years of sandpaper towels. Yes, I had a drier at the other place, but nowhere to plug it in. Even if there had been a big enough outlet, I daresay the wiring in that place would have shorted out within two seconds of my turning it on.
Right. Off to go clean some more. Toodles!
