My throat hurts
Sep. 27th, 2004 08:23 pmWork is stressful. Better this week than last week so far, but now I'm starting that cold that made its way around the office.
Friday was pure, unadulterated hell. Nat spent the day on the dock writing bills because the dock workers were whining that the OS&D trailers were too full, so I ended up fielding my work and her work, and a bunch of cranky co-workers.
Seems some of my co-workers have been complaining that I ask too many questions about work, and that it's "not their job" to train me. Well, fuck them and the horse they rode in on. It's damned well their job if I need to help a customer and don't know how. If it helps the company, it's their job.
Anyway, I found this out after fielding calls, the radio, all my work, and no lunch. It was around 3pm, and I came very close to losing it entirely and screaming at someone. The receptionist took one look at me and suggested —firmly— that I go outside and take a break for a few minutes. Turned out that was a good plan, as it took me the better part of fifteen minutes to compose myself and not burst into hysterical tears and/or letting my temper loose on some unsuspecting soul.
I don't know. It was an entirely irrational reaction, but somehow after the whole week had been nightmarish, capped with an even more nightmarish day, the lingering migraine, having such a useless piece of criticism thrown my way —indirectly, no less— just seemed like too much to take.
I made it through the rest of the day, however, and going line dancing afterward was a lot of fun and allowed me to work off most of the stress. Saw my old friend Sinead and her best friend Kieran, whom I'd met last week, and met a really cute girl named Kira, who also turned out to be friends with Kieran and Sinead.
I'm having an absolute ball with these dancing lessons, at least. I get to be completely silly without worrying about what other people think, for once, and the people there are really, really nice. I'm just having fun, with no other expectations.
Spent the rest of the weekend either gaming, seeing friends, or sleeping. Was nice. I blew up a ship. :D
Now I have to go find something that'll make my throat stop hurting. Dagnabbit.
