Yes, it's five in the morning. Very likely much later by the time I'll have finished this entry. The reason is simple: I was out spending time with my friend April, who is leaving for the US for a very long time. :( Sad to lose her, but she said she'd come visit.
Anyway.
Had dinner with the Parental Units. Nothing to report there: they are well and happy and were reasonably tolerable about not pushing my buttons too much. That sentence made sense in my head. Never mind.
Paternal Unit drove me home, after which I got slightly gussied up (brushed teeth, applied minor eye makeup), put on some running shoes, and went to meet April for an evening at Passeport. Why running shoes? Well, with April any kind of excursion, unless I'm driving, will involve a fair amount of walking. I was not wrong, as it turns out, and was glad of my running shoes.
April & co. were already running a little late by the time I got there, but not everyone had arrived. Already there were LC (who has a livejournal under the name
lightcastle) and Sophie, an uberbabelet I met at their LARP last November. *rowr* She ended up dressed in a slinky black skirt and a red halter top with mucho cleavage and a lace-up front which left about an inch open. V. hot.
Janik arrived soon afterwards. She and I spent most of the night talking, as an aside. Oh, and she's once again single. *drool* She is the really hot girl in this picture standing on the right (sadly you can't see her face very well), dressed in a white shirt. The other hot girl is April. Oh, and
fearsclave is in the foreground. ;)
( Cut for the non-high-speed-enabled )
We eventually left, picking up Tu-Tsui (I'm very likely mangling the spelling of her name, for which I am very sorry) and her attachment, Pierre-Hughes. Both were, like me, up way past their bedtimes, and many many jokes were made at our expense. It was fun.
We finally got to Passeport where we met with an extremely enthusiastic
rotagar, and Anik immediately precipitated herself onto the dance floor. Janik and I accompanied April outside briefly for a slice of pizza so she wouldn't keel over from hunger (she hadn't had time to eat in all the rush, poor thing, since she's leaving Sunday and hasn't stopped rushing about and seeing people for the past week or so), then headed back into the pounding heart of the dance club.
Let's just say I'm not exactly at ease in these places. I kind of feel like an apple dropped into a bowl of cherries. Enh. Whatever. Had a very long and very nice chat with Janik, which got interrupted at a crucial point first by LC and then by Anik, but we finally got to the end of the conversation by the end of the evening. Besides, chatting with LC and Anik was lots and lots of fun.
The walk back to A&A's apartment was marked by the appearance of a drunken man with a guitar who insisted on serenading April. She in turn, upon noticing that the man could hold a tune and play the guitar reasonably well (it wasn't in tune), attempted to tell him that since he had a gift for music, he should do his best to give up the bottle and make use of his gift instead. I don't know if the message got through (the guy at least listened), but I was impressed. Not many people would have stopped long enough for this guy. Of course he wanted money, and I gave it to him (about a dollar and change) because I'm a softie for street musicians, no matter how bad (except for the flautist who plays the Boléro —I hate that piece with a passion).
Crashed at A&A's place for about 45 minutes, watched the beginning of Tank Girl which looks like it's a blast. Must rent that at one point. Took a cab home, with a cabby who insisted on singing along with the radio, very much off-key.
So I had an alternative musical night.
I'm going to catch forty winks, and get up as early as possible, because I have a metric assload of work to do.
