I've tried both outlining (my natural inclination) and just freeform purge-writing when the ideas or words don't come. I keep flip-flopping, but I figure hey, whatever works. Forward motion is the goal, however it happens! Even if it's just banging my head against a creative block. Eventually, a crack will form...
