I've been listening to Anna Russell. She makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. The first time I heard her "Ring" synopsis I was twelve years old, and a lot of it was lost on me, but it was still pretty hilarious. By the time I was in my twenties and was familiar with Wagner, it got a LOT funnier.
For those of you who are new(ish) to this LJ, yes, I like Wagner. I think he doesn't get nearly enough credit because all people know of him (or think they know of him) is the Ride of the Valkyries, which is now forever linked with "Apocalypse Now."
Wager is like the Metallica of the opera world.
For those of you who don't like Wagner, here she is giving her formula for writing your very own Gilbert & Sullivan opera. :D
