Is it because Mercury's retrograde?

mousmeI am not usually a superstitious person. That being said, I have had a run of bad luck with regards to things breaking lately.
Last week it was breaking a bunch of dishes when my shelf gave way and tossed a bunch of heavy things onto the floor and counter.
Then on Saturday the cats shattered my full-length mirror.
On Sunday I discovered that the head of my garden rake has come apart from the handle and will need to be screwed/superglued back in.
Then today as I was opening the fridge door to get the wherewithall to make my lunch, my carton of eggs came sailing out of its nest in the door and landed with a sickening crunch! on the floor. Total casualties: seven out of nine eggs were toast.
So, dear Universe, what the hell?
