Colour me shocked

You will all be surprised to hear that, once again, the Overtime Fairy has tossed a bagful of overtime dust on me.

I'm not getting out of here until 7pm. Whee.

Man, I hope you're getting time-and-a-half or something for all this overtime.

You betcha. Time and a half as long as I'm considered temporary, and when I get a permanent posting it'll be double time on my regular days off. Bwah.

So what has to happen before you go permanent? Is it a time-served thing, or a 'we have four posts opening and six temps, take the four best' kind of thing?

I'll take Door Number 2 for the answer to that. :)

Hate the extra time and work, love the extra pay. It's a love-hate thing...

Hey, when you get a permanent posting, you may be able to take your overtime as compensatory time in lieu of cash, too. I am able to; it's nice to be able to extend your annual leave with comp time, once you have a steady source of income.

Anyway, it's something you have to discuss with your manager. Parks Canada is pretty good about it; I don't know how the RCMP would be.

I can already do that. It's a very nice perk. :)

You have been valentined!
