Random Monday poll

I was just thinking the other day that most of my friends (the ones who've read and enjoyed Harry Potter, that is) identify strongly with either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. A couple have identified as Slytherins, and I think I might well be the only one who considers herself a Hufflepuff.

Then I realized that I always talk to the same people about this sort of thing, so I thought I would put the question more broadly to my flist, out of curiosity.

[Poll #1322214]

I never felt I fit in anywhere, sadly. I'd rather just ... teach.

So, Hufflepuff then.

[identity profile] pasley.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Here's the thing---

I'd *like* to think I'd be sorted into Ravenclaw.

My fear is that I'd be sorted into Hufflepuff.

I'd also like to think that based on will alone, if nothing else, I'd get the House I wanted!

(Why do you think Hufflepuff for yourself? I would have pegged you as a Ravenclaw fer sure.)

[identity profile] rmstmartin.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact that your fear Hufflepuff makes you wise, and shows you read the books, so Ravenclaw it is! Well done. Now go read something.

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I identify a bit more with Hufflepuff (loyalty to friends, inclusion, perseverance, hard work, community service, etc.) than with Ravenclaw (academia and knowledge). I think the Sorting Hat would have trouble placing me, to be honest: the only House I really don't belong in is Slytherin (I'm neither cunning nor sly nor ambitious).

[identity profile] pasley.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
My chief problem with Hufflepuff is that they tend to be very conservsative. Also, the hard working thing . . . yeah, see, I'd rather just curl up with a book.

I do actually quite love Hufflepuff and felt in our RPG (sphogwarts) that it was a marvellous House to be part of.

However, my personality is much more Ravenclaw.

not slytherin... NOT SLYTHERIN

Gryffindor...

[identity profile] aislingtheach.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)

j'suis seulement rendue au début du quatrième livre, donc je ne connais pas bien les maisons Ravenclaw et Hufflepuff encore.

À partir de quand en parle-t-on davantage?

[identity profile] fearsclave.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd be a tossup between Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, I think; depends on whether the Sorting Hat found you more conspicuously brainy or brave.

I see four Hufflepuffs ATM in your poll, which is really neat.

[identity profile] rmstmartin.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and now they're all baking pies or somesuch.

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone LOVES our pies! :D

[identity profile] rmstmartin.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL - and I will happily partake of your pies once I am done SAVING THE WORLD.

[identity profile] crowgirl13.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I really lean strongest towards the *concept* of Ravenclaw, but can't say I particularly love the House's depiction in the books. But then, if Hermione Granger can be a Gryffindor with all of her book love/ general love of knowledge, then so can I.

So - Gryffindor, with wide streaks of Ravenclaw.

HELLO! Over here! I am the most hardcore Hufflepuff there ever was. I have the shirt, the scarf, the hat, the tights, and the badges to prove it. I was a rocking Hufflepuff at the Deathly Hallows release party. Are you on facebook? Cause if you are, you can see the pictures.

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
w00t!

I am amazed at the number of Hufflepuffs on my list. Who knew? We're a quiet, modest bunch, it seems. ;)

[identity profile] borrowedwings.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, yes, I suppose it comes with the territory. :)

[identity profile] ashforestwalker.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I am Gryffindor.

HRH.

[identity profile] rmstmartin.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You and me both, brother!

[identity profile] fearsclave.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
The online sorters I get usually stick me in Ravenclaw, which I think is fair. Occasionally one will put me in Gryffindor if it was done with a Gryff bias. I might have done OK in Slytherin but I wouldn't have been happy. I'm too lazy to be a Hufflepuff.

+1

[identity profile] blujeanbaby22.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly I've always fancied myself a Gryffindor, but online sorters are split between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. I see a lot of myself in both houses, honestly. I think it would kind of depend on my mood that day. Haha.

[identity profile] karine.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm Gryffindor all the way, baby.

[identity profile] gmarc.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I always choose the answers that will get me into Slytherin, even when they are lies. Especially when they are lies! Mu-ha-haw!

MLG

[identity profile] rmstmartin.livejournal.com 2008-12-30 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Which makes you DOUBLY Slytherin! Nearly Slytherin SQUARED, really.

Sorting Hat Says....

[identity profile] ankhorite.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 12:46 am (UTC)(link)

Best answer EVAH!

[identity profile] sparrowinsky.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure which of my responses went through, and anyway either one would require this modifier:

I am right about smack-dab middle between Slytherin and Hufflepuff. I am a... Slytherpuff, I guess?

Tough Choice...

[identity profile] blackbuffet.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I feel Ravenclaw have a lot of traits that could describe me well but after thinking about it for quite a while, I realize that the Sorting Hat would inevitable make me a Hufflepuff!
