A request for my flist

Okay, folks. Now that I will, in the medium-term future, have a bit more money to throw around, I would like to get myself a digital camera. Bearing in mind that I don't have oodles of cash and am not in any way, shape or form a professional photographer or even a good amateur, I would like suggestions about a reasonable model to look into purchasing.

The payoff is that you'll all get nifty photos in my LJ after that (behind cut-tags, of course).

So. Suggestions? Horror stories? Anything?

I've had good luck with Olympus brand. Had a diff. one before, but now I use Aramis' camera. it is an Olympus Camedia Digital Camera c-700 Ultra Zoom. It's pretty old, but works very well. I would say if you get a refurbished or even used camera on ebay that should work fine.
