A request for my flist
Okay, folks. Now that I will, in the medium-term future, have a bit more money to throw around, I would like to get myself a digital camera. Bearing in mind that I don't have oodles of cash and am not in any way, shape or form a professional photographer or even a good amateur, I would like suggestions about a reasonable model to look into purchasing.
The payoff is that you'll all get nifty photos in my LJ after that (behind cut-tags, of course).
So. Suggestions? Horror stories? Anything?

I asked this same question and it seems like people are happiest with Cannon. I know that that's what I plan to buy.
I'd suggest that you try the camera out in store if you can. At least to see what the delay is like.

They have a nice range of easy setting, but you can do fancier stuff if you are more informed.
I have seen pretty good deals on some of the older models, in the 3-4 megapixel range, which would probably do just fine for what you want :)

I'd also recommend going to the CompuSmart downtown; the one just south of the Bay, but I can't remember the street name. We got ours there, and the camera guy (Alan? Adam? Something like that) was awesome about showing us cameras, giving us options, talking prices - he actually ended up recommending one that would give him a decently smaller commission, because it was better for what we wanted it for than the flashy one.
