A request for my flist

Okay, folks. Now that I will, in the medium-term future, have a bit more money to throw around, I would like to get myself a digital camera. Bearing in mind that I don't have oodles of cash and am not in any way, shape or form a professional photographer or even a good amateur, I would like suggestions about a reasonable model to look into purchasing.

The payoff is that you'll all get nifty photos in my LJ after that (behind cut-tags, of course).

So. Suggestions? Horror stories? Anything?

Do you have a good printer? The reason I asked is that we just picked up the Canon Pixma MP150 (it's a 3 in 1) and I am so in love with it. We paid $91 and that includes an extra $10 for the (slightly) extended warranty. They're being liquidated at Bureau en Gros so I dunno how long they'll be around.
