Oh, dear God...

[livejournal.com profile] fearsclave is a baaaaaad influence. Going to Alexandria on a Wednesday night is not a good idea if you have to work the next day. Ended up staying the night. Also a bad idea. I had fun, but it was Not Smart(TM).

Did not drink, luckily, as ended up the default designated driver (no one else was sober enough to qualify). Went to bed very late. Well, not all that late if I'd been able to sleep in, but had to get up at 5am to get into Montreal for work. Four hours of incredibly broken sleep is not enough to function, let me tell you. Yes, broken sleep. Then again, I probably slept more than the other people whom I won't name who are directly responsible for the broken state of my slumber. All I can say is: yikes, loud. At least they had a good time.

So now am doing the zombie thing at work. Thus far, no one has noticed, probably because I'm wired beyond belief on caffeine. Asked to go home half an hour early, as I got here half an hour early, and I have a feeling no one will mind.

Maybe a better update later.

Alexandria, Ont.? I used to live near there. As a treat after our Sunday-morning meetings in Cornwall, we would sometimes go into a restaurant in Alexandria that had the best hot chocolate in the world.
I do so very much love southern Ontario.

So do I. I think I'll move there. :)

Which restaurant?

Gods, I can't remember. It was a big, rustic joint I think along the main street.
I lived in Bainsville, which is worth a drive-through sometime. Back when I lived there, before it was a boom town, there were 17 houses, not all of them occupied. Population: 25. I spent all my time up in the bush with my dog, walking along the train tracks and daydreaming. It was damn near perfect.

Sounds very nice indeed. Alexandria's population is 3,300. It says so on the sign coming into town. :)
