Crap.

[livejournal.com profile] ai731's latest post in her blog has reminded me that I haven't done ANYTHING yet with regards to the garden.

I really need to start thinking about seeds and the like. It appears early seeds should be started about now.

*headdesk*

If you're not working on Feb. 8th we could meet up at the Seed Sale / Exchange. Alternatively, I'll send you the website & contact details for the company I buy my seeds from. I've been very happy with them for the past few years.

As it happens, I am off on February 8th!

I would also love the website & contact details of your company. I gather that I should be starting my onions and such Very Soon, yes?

Yay! We shall organise details of timing & such closer to the date. I will have the car, which will make things easier. Emailing you the details of the seed company.

I'm planning to start my onion-family seeds around Feb. 1st. Onions aren't critical, the earlier you start them the bigger they will eventually get - however you can always plant them from sets rather than from seed in April or May. Leeks grow so slowly that they need an early start. But any time before the end of Feb should be fine.

Oh, good stuff.

I was worried that it wasn't even the end of January and that I'd already missed the boat. :P

You and t! are welcome to come to dinner on the 8th if you'd like, and generally hang out after he seed fair. That is, if t! is coming. If not, then you are obviously welcome solo. It'll be a bit like old times, except that this time I'll be hosting. ;)

Bah! I don't even start my onions until the 2nd week of February, and peppers not until March. And you're even northier than I am!

This is just one reason why I could never ever be a farmer, as much as the *idea* of farming makes me feel all cozy and nesty. The planning part of a vegetable garden I'd love, but the execution part

(BTW: Love the icon, maybe because that greenwoman hangs over my altar!)
