The quick version of today's events
So I ended up spending most of the day in the emergency room (two and a half hours at the clinic, twelve and a half hours in the ER).
The short version is: I'm okay. My dignity may never recover ("Drop your pants and think of England!"), and I'm looking at a week of daily visits to the CLSC (exciting), lots of antibiotics, and very happy painkillers and anti-inflammatories, but I came out of it mostly better than when I went in.
Yeah.
Many, many thanks to everyone who called, commented and emailed. You are all awesome. :)
I am now going to go pass out in bed of t3h t1r3d.

Glad the docs could patch you up.
Feel better super soon. Sending good vibes.
You're welcome.
It's good to hear that you're going to be okay. I hope you're getting a good night's sleep.

(When you've caught up on your much-deserved sleep, please tell us what was wrong---inquiring minds wanna to know.)

Twelve and a half hours in ER? Gah. I hope to heaven you had multiple books on you.

I'm sorry about your dignity, but I'm glad you'll recover.

Doesn't sound like a pleasant experience, but at least it sounds like it will be dealt with in short order.
