I think the wrong voice won the argument

There was a twenty-minute argument in my head this morning. It went something like this:

"It's 7:00. You're late. Get up."

"No. I feel like crap. I don't want to."

"You're going to be late. Get up."

"I'm going to call in sick."

"No, you're not. Get up."

"Yes, I am. I'm staying in bed, where at least it's comfortable, even if I'm miserable."

"No, you're not. You have to go to work. Get up."

"No."

"Yes. You have responsibilities, bills to pay, cats to feed. Get up."

"No."

"Yes. Get up get up getupgetupgetup GET UP!"

"Oh, God, fine. Anything to make you shut up."

"Bwah."

I'm beginning to think the wrong voice won the argument.

I'm guessing this would be the voice that's telling you to go home right now?

Nah. The voice that won the argument is the one now saying: "Well, you're at work anyway. May as well suck it up and get through the day."

The other, more reasonable voice, is telling me to go home. That's the voice of self-preservation. Note how I'm managing to ignore it. :P

seriously, if you're ill go home. making yourself so sick that you're out for several days instead of one day where you recover.

That's the logical response, dear anonymous reader.

However, the current state of my affairs is such that, short of being hospitalized, I can't really afford not to go to work.

Actually, if I were hospitalized, it would screw me royally. So, I'm just going to drink lots of tea and hope this goes away. If it gets really bad, I'll see about leaving a bit earlier this afternoon.

If you're still not feeling well after work, I don't think anyone will kill you if you miss band practice. You probably know this already, but I thought I'd point it out.

Actually, I'm home now. Called it quits around lunch time, and am now doing the rest/recuperate thing so I can be there for practice (I have my priorities straight, after all!).

I shall keep everyone apprised if things don't go as planned. :)
