I wonder...

Seriously, I wonder whether it's a good thing that our band has a drummer who's partly deaf in one ear?

I'd say...good thing. Saves on ear plugs.

I wonder what happens to all those rock bands out there. Do they all eventually start losing their hearing or developing tinnitus?

A drummer who's partially deaf in one ear is better than Def Leppard's drummer with one arm, I'd say. Can you imagine playing with only one arm? Yikes!

No serious impact, I imagine. :)

Considerably better than a band that has me playing the pipes in it...

...which concept just caused me to have a mental train wreck, from which emerged the following line: "yeah, I play the pipes in an all-girl punk band".

Back to work.

Evelyn Glennie (http://www.evelyn.co.uk/hearing.htm) is a classical percussionist who's profoundly deaf; the link is to an essay describing what playing is like for her.
