Well, that kind of sucked
So I got officially let go today. My last day of work is this Friday at 4pm.
Can't say I wasn't expecting it. There are budget cuts right, left and center. Still, I think it's a monumentally stupid decision to get rid of me. Then again, I may be biased. ;)
I'm remarkably unruffled by this. Probably because I was planning on giving them two weeks' notice today if they didn't give me a definitive answer one way or the other anyway.
I called the temp agency, and they think they have a job for me that's somewhere nearby in Verdun, in the wild and wacky world of scaffolding. I swear to God, I land the weirdest-sounding jobs. Anyway, it's not a done deal, but it sounds like a good fit, and the pay will be better, not to mention it's not an entire freaking hour away by car. All good things.
Funnily enough, Asshat!Supervisor actually seemed genuinely sorry to have to let me go, and told me to leave my updated CV with him, in case they call people back later on. I'll do it, sure, but I'm not a fan of the "let people go during hard times and then hire them again for a few months only to let them go once more" thing. Go figure.
Anyway, as of Friday I will be officially unemployed.
In the meantime, I'm busily working on Capricornucopia (which is our First Annual birthday bash —me,
miseri, and
sorceror). If you're a Montreal resident right now and haven't been invited, consider it a gross oversight on our part and email me please?
All our friends are invited, of course, so if you happen to be passing by Montreal next Saturday even if you're not a resident, just drop one of us a line, okay? :)
Preparations are proceeding, although not smoothly in my case. I left most of my stuff at work instead of forwarding it to my home computer, which means I'll be rewriting a lot of it out tonight.
I also bought lots of Tupperware, in anticipation of having to feed a fair number of folk on Saturday.
I'm very excited about this. *bounce*

I just sent a response to Chris about the Birthday Thing (it had slipped my mind to mention it to Adam). We'll see you there :)

If you have no "appropriate" clothes, that doesn't matter. Neither do we. It's all about the imagination, after all. ^_^

I guess it's a good think that this isn't a massive upset... it sounds like you've got a safety net to work with.
Given the supervisor's reaction, I should think that you should've delivered an ultimatum earlier to twist their arm... it would've worked, it would seem.
No idea what you lot or up to, but it should be amusing, to say the least...
Just wonder what kind of shape I'll be in for Perseity, is all. :)

Awesome! Congratulations.

Mr. Leguen sends his regrets, but he will not be able to attend, and do I have your permission to forward him your email addie?

And it's too bad he can't come. I guess there's always next year.

Hey -- don't they have to give you at least *two* weeks' notice? Or is it only two weeks' pay?
Either way, here's hoping this other job will be much better. And in the meantime, I sent you some Capricornucopia stuff you can print out at their expense, nyeah. ^_^
