It's cold out

People keep posting about how it's cold out. Yep. Factoring in wind chill, it's somewhere around -41 Celsius out there. Don't know what that is in Fahrenheit. Don't much care, either. :)

I don't feel much like moving, today. I feel like curling up here in my apartment with my cats and a very large cup of tea and my Dire Straights album. I actually have work to do, but I have decided to work on it over the weekend, for once.

It's nearly four o'clock, and given that I have a game at 6:00, I should probably be looking for my notes and character sheet and dice, but have I mentioned that I don't feel like moving?

I don't think I'm actually depressed or anything. I like the cold, but my apartment is *really* cold thanks to the whole thermostat/window situation, and so I've gone kind of numb. Maybe I should go make that tea...

Make tea. And bring something warm to wear & extra socks maybe when you come over for the game.

Kinda chilly in our apartment too, though I'll up the heating. Since we have a hole inna wall behind the heater in the kitchen. Arg.

Willdo. Warm socks and sweater it is. I am no stranger to sources of coldness in apartment, it would seem.

I taped up most of what I could of the hole, but... it's a heater. Inna wall. And it won't move. And it's big. Stupid heater.

Annoying, I agree. Especially since a lot of the heat it's generating must be actually going to heat the outdoors. :P

Ironically, it's almost the same thing: -41.8 degrees Fareneheit. ;) Hah, thought you wouldn't care, eh?

Well, that actually sounds like the cold may be getting to you. Get tea. Tea is good.

Ick. Cold. Better than extreme heat in my opinion. But "ick" nonetheless. Is that the temperature with or without windchill? Because if it's without ... you might want to reconsider that game tonight if it means venturing out. Frostbite is, needless to say, no fun.

Vast quantities of hot, hot tea are needed. And perhaps some of that plastic window sealant that "magically" adheres with the use of a blow dryer.

I will bundle up warmly for my game, don't worry (my car is also arguably warmer than my apartment, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely ^_-).

Sealant: great idea which had indeed occurred to me, but there are two problems. 1) I don't own a hair dryer. 2) I have four cats who, upon seeing the aforementioned sealant rippling enticingly in the breeze, would proceed to rip it to shreds (well, three of them would: Pan-Pan is de-clawed). My friend had this happen to her.

Thank you *so* much for the suggestion. I appreciate it, I really do. I don't mean to shoot you down or anything like that, it's just that that idea has already been considered. :)

For the moment I'm using a system of towels and duct tape, and later on I'll be attacking the paint that's keeping the windows open.

Oh, no -- I completely understand about cats' proclivity for shredding! And general havoc. One of my cats' current favorite game is knocking thing off of our kitchen buffet (car keys, salt and pepper shakers, mail ... pretty much anything we put there). We like to think she's "testing gravity."

We had a hole in our livingroom floor at our last apartment (long story; in short: not our fault, rotting floorboards, absentee landlord) and towels did just fine to keep the draught away. They weren't ideal, of course, but they do work in a pinch! Good creative thinking, [livejournal.com profile] mousme :)

With my apartment, I have to be creative. ;P
