Poo :(

Work has blocked my LJ friends page. Weird. I can still post to my own LJ, though. Further weird.

Whee...

So originally I was grumbling to myself because I have to go to the first of two office parties tonight. The next one is tomorrow.

Now, instead, I get to grumble because, instead of going to the office party, I have to go in early anyway to cover for yet another coworker who called in sick. I'm assuming it's just for today in his case.

I know that I should be grateful to have a good job that pays well and which I enjoy. It's just that, right now, I'm having a hard time finding the gratitude. I would really, really like a small break.

All I have to do is hang in there until Monday. Then I get a whole day and a half off! Supposing they don't recruit me to come in at 14:30, because I know they're short-staffed and they haven't realized it yet. They're going to be only two people on evening shift, whereas they should be three, minimum. There is no one else apart from me who A) can come in, and B) will agree to come in. Everyone else is either already working, coming off a shift, or unwilling to do overtime. It's not even a question of my refusing for my own sanity here: there literally is no one else left.

Even if I don't pull an extra shift on Monday, by the end of the month I will have worked 240 hours. That's 80 hours of overtime, so basically an extra two weeks in the space of a month. With the extra shift, it'll mean the equivalent of 16 extra days.

Whee.

Those of you who are inclined, flist, would you mind sending a request to the universe to get us some more qualified operators in here? It's a really good place when we're not constantly overworked.
