Not sure how I managed to miss this

I think that I live in the past, musically speaking. I have yet to find an artist past the late eighties/early nineties that I can truly get into. But anything pre-1980? Bring it on.

I'm not sure how I managed to miss out on the fact that Joan Baez is awesome. Just listen to the voice on her:

Only in my wildest dreams would I be able to sing like that. Wow.

I feel about the same when it comes to music unless its a new band doing old folk music.

Paze, online at school:

Yes, occasionally a new group's cover for an old song is good (sometimes even better than the original); but otherwise, I prefer the old folk stuff, as well. That said, there are some 80's pop songs that I enjoy, though more for sentimental, nostalgic reasons, I suspect. (For example, I certainly don't consider "Walk Like an Egyption" brilliant in any way, but when I hear it I'm flooded with memories of a certain high school class trip.)

I like Baez, but prefer some of the female artists who copied or were inspired by her, such as Judy Collins and Joni Mitchell.

I agree. Today's music makes me feel like and old fuddy duddy who doesn't keep up with the times. There's plenty of "okay" music, but nothing that makes me want to have a copy.
