Woe! I no can has internets!

My work is cutting off a huge part of our internet access starting October 1st. Likely I won't be able to see LJ at all anymore, or any of my favourite blogs.

WOE!

Yes, I know. I'm supposed to work while I'm at work, but since a lot of it is "hurry up and wait" work, I really relied on the internet for my sanity.

*sigh*

I will live, but it just won't be the same.

Would management frown on the use of a Blackberry with wireless broadband?

Any explanation why they're doing this? Is staff productivity actually measurably suffering because of internet usage? Would it really genuinely suffer less if staff were denied this outlet?

When we moved to this new building, we suddenly had internet access (we weren't able to get on the internet at the old building.) I haven't even attempted to get on LJ at work, though. We aren't really allowed on, even though most of the supervisors get on and turn a blind eye to people being on the internet. We are allowed to use it to Google locations of phase 2 cell phones, though, which is nice because I do not understand the mapping system that they connected it to.

I will pop on the internet to look things up, but really don't use it to pass the time. I use magazines, puzzles, and books for that. Besides, I really don't want my work to know I have an LJ.
