The damned marmot has eaten ALL of my lettuce. The marmot also appears to have three offspring, who are doubtless not guiltless in the disappearance of my lettuce.

There will be inhumane relocation procedures as soon as I can figure out how to do it. Tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] moonandtree and I will be netting the rest of the garden.

Did I mention that ALL THE LETTUCE IS GONE?

ARGH!

Ohhh, and if you do trap one place newspaper in the bottom of any trunk you put it in they will urinate and poop like crazy when scared...again learned through experience....

On second thought, I have seen the marmot up close, and it looks... sketchy. Like it might have mange. Dunno if that affects the quality of the eatin'...

Dunno. We can always try; I'd think that the skin condition wouldn't affect the underlying meat.

Or you could build a marmot catapult...

Any suggestions on how to kill them humanly while they are in a cage without the use of a crossbow or firearm? I've decided this year I will hang the pelts in warning to other Gofers....

It looked like that early in the year last year, too. Then later in the summer it looked all sleek & fat. It might be a "surviving the winter and then birthing and feeding the babies" thing; I expect it doesn't leave it's den much until the litter is weaned...

Yeah, as cute as Leroy is, I think the entire family need to be relocated for their own good. There really isn't enough food in our garden for them all to survive, and dagnabbit those are MY vegetables!

I may draw the line at stew, though, no matter how tempting [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave's offer might be. ;)

Voles

If you figure out a way to HUMANELY kill voles, tell me.

This means no sticky traps and no warfarin (D-Con).
