October 6th

My shaving date is October 6th at 08:00, live in studio!

Please please PLEASE spread the word to your friends and family: I figure I need 100 people to each contribute $20 (although if you want to contribute more, that's great!) in order to meet my goal of $2,000 by October 31st,

More details as events warrant.

I know! ACK!

I only have to have the money by October 31st, though. "Only." :P

You need a progress bar so we know how the donation thingummy is coming.

Yes, yes, yes -- very good idea.

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I shall go make a ticker thing now.

As someone who's done it, I'd like to put out there that it's really hard to raise that cash with just the goodwill of your most excellent friends.

If work isn't interested in throwing in money, why don't you consider asking them if you can hold a weekly bake sale sometime during your shift? Offer to make supper for your friends -- for a price -- or write them a story, or make them a scarf -- anything along those lines. Hold a raffle, maybe?

A kissing booth?

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL

I like the idea of a kissing booth.

I am already working on the RCMP to get involved. The woman I need to harass about this sort of thing was off work today, but she's supposed to be in tomorrow.

I have all my colleagues at the OCC on this too, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to pull it off. :)

Actually, I was thinking of inviting my friends to supper for the purposes of fundraising (GMTA!). A raffle is a good idea too, except that I think it falls under gambling laws, and I don't know if I want to get into that. :P

I like the idea of people pledging for writing -- if you have the time to do it, of course. So for example if someone contributed $50 they'd get a poem, $100 is a short story (or something, you decide the amounts).

Myself, I'd pay good coin for another issue of Conflation.

Do you have a text you'd like to write up, specifically for the purpose of people posting it to their own LJs? And perhaps the code needed for the paypal widget, if possible, so they can post that as well so pass the word along and make it easy of access?

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no text yet, but one shall be forthcoming!

The code for the button be clunky, but I am happy to provide it. :)

[identity profile] meallanmouse.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I will happily repost both to my LJ if you'd like, once all is ready. =)

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be fantastic, thank you!

[identity profile] toughlovemuse.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
New thought: This is tax deductible. You might want to let people know that, and have them include their contact info so that the society can contact them.

Is paypal taking fees off the top? I will add extra, if so.

[identity profile] mousme.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
PayPal is being [censored] and taking fees off the top. It's very nice of you to compensate, but for anyone else out there who has contributed their maximum, do NOT worry: I will compensate for the PayPal fees.

[livejournal.com profile] sorceror has pointed out the tax-deductible thing, and I have edited my post accordingly.
