I had a really long bio up here for a while, then realized there's not much point. For one, I'm not around as much as I used to be. For two, I could go on for pages here and you'd never really know who I was, only who I say I am, and I'm not sure how valid that is.

I come and go around here. I post about whatever's on my mind when the fancy strikes. Mostly it's small things about what's happening in my life, which is interesting to probably only a handful of people, and a fair bit about work. Sometimes I post about "deeper" topics like politics, feminism, spirituality, finances and gay/queer issues, because that's generally what's important to me in life. Mostly, though, it's just the randomalia of everyday life.

Updated Version

If you'd like a summary of my current existence (as of February 2025), here it is: I work a job with weird hours in Ottawa for the government as a public servant. I live with my two dogs, Brittany Spaniels named Peggy and Pixie (6 and 3 years old respectively), and two cats, a grey cat named Octavia and a black and white cat named Juno (11 and 12 years old respectively). In the summer of 2021 I acquired a new roommate, referred to as KK, and she has a chihuahua named Rika who cordially loathes me but is nonetheless very cute, and a very pretty long-haired tabby cat named Libby. She also got me two dart frogs for my birthday in 2022, named Bowser and Blue.

I kind of abandoned a lot of the hobbies I loved over the past few years: reading, cooking, knitting, gardening and writing being at the top of that list, and I am very slowly trying to get back to some of those. I watch too much television, and got hooked on video games for a while, although lately i haven't had much time for those, and am still an avid D&D player after being introduced to roleplaying over 25 years ago.

As for who I am, I am a queer fat lady about town who identifies mostly as a geek. I became a Member of my local Quaker Meeting in 2018 and have been varying degrees of active there for over ten years now. Recently I was asked to become a member of the Committee of Ministry and Counsel, responsible for the spiritual well-being of the Meeting, and never a day goes by that I don't worry that placing that much responsibility on me was a terrible, terrible mistake.

I have struggled with my mental health since I was a teenager, and was fairly recently diagnosed with ADHD. I discuss this on and off, as well as my recent foray into middle age. I started this journal when I was 23 years old, and I have just turned 46, which is honestly wild as a feeling. It's also very likely I am on the autism spectrum, but the waiting lists to get an official diagnosis are so long that I'm not really bothering with that process right now.

I have been socking money away in order to purchase a small property to use as a hobby farm sometime, if the real estate market ever calms down again. In the interim, I have recently acquired the use of a plot in a community garden, and have plans to try growing vegetables indoors at home, too. I am not-so-secretly of the opinion that society is in a not-so-slow decline (it's speeding up, God help us), and I am trying to increase our household resiliency in anticipation of increasingly harder times to come.

Lots of big life projects, in short. And as usual, everything is a work in progress.

That's about it. Whatever I've left out, it's because of time constraints, and not an unwillingness to discuss things. Feel free to ask questions, if you want. I'm usually happy to answer.
