I can top your injury in terms of embarrassment, however.
In university, when I was living in a rather seedy part of downtown, I had a pan handler actually punch me in the groin for no other reason than that a)I didn't give him money and perhaps also that b)I was very happy that day (in love). For weeks I had a huge lump and a bruise down there. When I told people the story of what happened, most were sympathetic and supportive (because it was a pretty emotionally traumatizing experience, apart from being physically painful); however, a few people could not believe it and actually teased me and my boyfriend, suggesting that my injury was the result of some sort of violent sexual practice.
