Today's Friday Five
1. Explain why you started to journal/blog.
I found out about LJs when I was pointed to The Very Secret Diaries by
cassieclaire. I owe my introduction to this to my friend
curtana, who started her LJ about a month before I started mine, IIRC.
Eventually, after reading her LJ for a while, I decided it would be fun to start my own, although I thought that, like my many other attempts at keeping a journal, I would eventually forget about it.
Little did I know it would become a weird addiction the way so many other things in my life have become (roleplaying, Harry Potter, paintball, etc.). I also found it's a great way to A) keep up with my friends whom I don't get to see very often; and B) meet new people through the aforementioned friends.
2. Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?
My family know I have a LiveJournal (my parents), but they're so technologically inept it hasn't even occurred to them to try to look it up. Besides, I wouldn't want them reading this.
My coworkers do not know about this space, nor will I ever tell them.
Otherwise, I interact with my friends on a daily basis through LJ, so I'd say that yes, the people I interact with on a daily basis know about my LJ. ;)
3. Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?
Er, yeah. My first internet handle was Bookworm, and I've tried to hold onto it for the sake of consistency (though if I had to do it over again I'd probably choose something else). So I have a book and bookworm-related theme.
I don't have a content theme, unless you count bitching about work. I just put down whatever I feel like at the time.
4. What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?
What kind of silly question is that? The only thing I'd like is to continue using it regularly, since I now have a permanent account, and I'd like to get more comments. Comments are good, yes. Mucho comments.
I'd also like to have a longer friends list, i.e. I want to get to know a lot more cool people. :)
5. Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.
Not fair. If you want cool journals, check out my friends page and/or my user info. :)
