Discussion of fees for contribution incentives

Okay, folks!

Now we're getting down to the nitty-gritty. I mentioned earlier that I am happy to provide extra incentive for people to contribute moolah to my very good cause, on TOP of having all my hair shaved off. To wit: I will be taking requests for food, small craft items, creative writing, and any other reasonable request people can come up with.

So now we need to discuss prices. Thus, a poll!

Dear Local Friends

Dear Local Friends,

PayPal is being very unreasonable and charging very very high fees on all your transactions. So far they're keeping about 10% of all donations I've received. I am Very Unhappy about this (especially since I thought I read the TOS pretty carefully), but there doesn't appear to be much I can do about it.

I was going to personally cover whatever "extra" got eaten by Paypal, but at this rate it's going to be a bit more than I can chew if I bite it off (to wreck a perfectly good expression). So, if you don't mind, if you are a local friend, I would much MUCH rather get a donation in person.

I will happily come to you at a time which is convenient for all concerned.

Non-local people who wish to contribute: never fear! I will still cover whatever "difference" PayPal chooses to impose.

Remember: all donations of $20 and more are tax-deductible!

That was a mistake...

In an effort to be a more informed voter, I have been reading the platforms of the four major contenders in the election (yes, I'm counting the Green Party, because even though they're doomed because of our stupid first-past-the-post electoral system, they still get a significant percentage of votes).

I thought I had properly braced myself, having consumed the better part of a disappointing Blanche de Chambly, but it turns out I need more than one beer to withstand Canadian politics.

In fact, I highly suspect there may not be enough beer in the world for this.

And I haven't even begun looking at the economic fiasco happening in the States. Egads.
