The conditioning is working..

Getting up early every day for work is apparently conducive to getting up early-ish on the weekends. I woke up at eight this morning, tried to roll over and go back to sleep, and gave up the attempt at about 8:40. Then again, I appear to be moving. very. slowly. this morning. It's a quarter to ten now and all I can say for myself is that I am entirely showered and clean. I haven't had breakfast or made myself any kind of lunch.

I'm halfway temped not even to bother with making lunch and to just have a good breakfast and try to tempt [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse to come out with me afterward for a late lunch and fabric shopping for the soopar seekrit projekt. I want to actually get started on that one. We were going to go fabric shopping on Wednesday before book club, but alas my work schedule and the Fabricville schedule didn't play well together, and so the place was closed by the time I got there. Still, it won't be closed today, and maybe I'll even have time to stop by the new kitchen goods store on de Maisonneuve.

I don't know what I want for breakfast. I have muffins and cereeal and eggs and oatmeal, so it's not like I have no choice here. I even have bread and butter and jam. No paucity of options. I think that's my problem. I got used to having very little food around here, so whatever was in the fridge that would serve for breakfast usually did, and I had no say in the matter. Now there is an overabundance of choice.

I should go dry my hair. It always looks nicerr when I blow-dry it, though that seldom happens on workdays now that my hair is past shoulder length again. That means a minimum of twenty minutes or so just to dry it. Today it's been air-drying for a while, so blow-drying ought not to take quite as long.

Isn't my life fascinating?

The thing is, I'm feeling pretty good these days, apart from being appallingly tired. I've got a job that's stimulating and that pays, if not well, then at least more than I was being paid before. Things are going pretty well, all told, and I'm content with that for the moment. The rest will fall into place eventually.

Random epiphanies

I remember once that [livejournal.com profile] miseri had wondered what each serial would be if it were, in fact, a cereal. I have figured out what Beyond the Pale would be: Count Chokula. Scary, yet funny and little bit ridiculous. Also gritty.

That is all. You may go back to your regularly-scheduled lives now.

Off to band practice.

A request for my flist

Okay, folks. Now that I will, in the medium-term future, have a bit more money to throw around, I would like to get myself a digital camera. Bearing in mind that I don't have oodles of cash and am not in any way, shape or form a professional photographer or even a good amateur, I would like suggestions about a reasonable model to look into purchasing.

The payoff is that you'll all get nifty photos in my LJ after that (behind cut-tags, of course).

So. Suggestions? Horror stories? Anything?
