Your post got me thinking. Part of what I like about LJ is keeping up on what my friends are doing. It reminds me of village gossip. There's two main kinds of gossip: interested-in-people-gossip and mean-gossip. The vast majority of village gossip is the first kind.

LJ is a lot like interested-in-people-gossip. It is even better, because it's not behind anyones back. Of course the other stuff happens on LJ too, but not on my friends page.
