Happy Together

In other news, I've had two songs stuck on loop in my head for weeks now. I can't decide which is more ridiculous, so why don't you tell me, dear flist?

Don't you love how dorky they look? I think they're adorable. You don't get rock groups that look like that anymore.

'Tainted Love' is the worst earworm in the history of earworms. Though Skippy Puppy's cover of it is pretty much AWESOME.

I kinda love 'Happy Together', though.

"Happy Together" is one of those songs that makes me ridiculously happy. I don't know why, but it always has. It makes me bop around like a silly thing. :)

Also, "Tainted Love" is absolutely the worst earworm in the history of all earworms forever. Good thing I actually like it.

Do you remember the movie "Making Mr. Right", with John Malkovich? It was a total cheese mid-80s film, and 'Happy Together' is on the soundtrack. This would be why that song makes me think of astronauts, robots and always lifts my spirits.

No, I don't think I ever saw that. Sounds fun!

It was on HBO on vicious repeat soon after release, so I'm not sure how many times I've seen the darn thing. It is worth a viewing - as long as the cheese factor is taken into account.

[Though, if I were to actually recommend a John Malkovich film, it would have to be 'Shadow of the Vampire'... which is probably not too surprising. /tangent]

Yeah, I saw that one. I was not especially thrilled, but it was pretty good. I far preferred "Being John Malkovich," which made me laugh very, very hard.

Tainted Love is definitely cheesier. May I suggest instead, black coffee?

So hard to decide...

they're both awesome.

The Turtles are so clean cut it's scary - t! and I have been watching "Hail! Hail! Rock & Roll! - The Chuck Berry Story" and Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, and Little Richard are interviewed talking about how much their music and performances scared the white kids' parents. Watching The Turtles in comparison to something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3haYAbqKjA
really makes that easy to believe!

Earworm!

Ack! Just seeing the words "Soft Cell - Tainted Love" got the song stuck in my head. Which of course eventually morphs into "Where Did Our Love Go." Two earworms for the price of one!

Though, now that I think about it, I think I prefer those songs to Weezer's "Island in the Sun," which was stuck in my head before I read this journal entry.

*wanders away singing, "I love you though you hurt me so. Now I'm gonna pack my things and go"*

Unfortunately, it's also at the end of Ma Mére, which... *shudder* It's...not a good thing. Just trust me on this one.

I do adore the song, though.

Great tunes! Real classics.

Your internal DJ has my compliments on his/her taste.

They might look clean cut to you, but in 1967 white kids' parents were still complaining about their "long hair" and the "outrageous" sideburns. And what kind of band is that? They aren't all wearing the same outfits!

Thanks for the link to the Chuck Berry video.

Me thinks I found the cheesiest of all!
