I've seen more than once someone asking not because they want to learn from the answer, but because once they have an answer it's one more thing they can attack and attempt to pull apart. Or so they can say "oh, yeah, I felt exactly like that when [x] happened to me! See, it's totally the same thing!"

Absolutely: it's been happening all over RaceFail09. And I agree; while this brand of not-wanting-to-learn may be considerably less malevolent than gerriwritinglog's stunt — it is still Fail.
